Statement 1 is incorrect: National Bee Board (NBB), a registered society under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, was reconstituted by the Department of Agriculture & Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Govt. Of India with public private partnership in June, 2006. National Bee Board (NBB) envisages overall development of Beekeeping by promoting Scientific Beekeeping in India to increase the productivity of crops through pollination and increase the Honey production for increasing the income of the Beekeepers/ Farmers.

Statement 2 is incorrect: Secretary (A & C), Dept. of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare is the ex- officio chairman of the NBB. A Beekeeping Development Board also functioned under the Chairpersonship of Secretary (A & C) to coordinate the Beekeeping activities.

Statement 1 is incorrect: The Union Ministry of Textiles launched the Certified Jute Seeds Distribution Plan and Jute Farmers Awareness Workshop, organized at ICAR-CRIJAF Institute at Barrackpore, West Bengal, to urge the farmers to use certified seeds to increase their income and productivity and contribute to the country in Jute diversified and technical textile products.

Statement 2 is correct: The Improved Cultivation and Advanced Retting Exercise for Jute (Jute ICARE) was launched in 2015 to popularize/introduce some of the better agronomic practices and recently developed microbial assisted retting among farmers intensively in a few blocks in West Bengal and Assam on pilot basis. The improved agronomic practices included -- line sowing of jute using seed drill to increase yield by 10-15%; weed management in jute by wheel hoeing/nail weeder instead of hand weeding for reducing the cost of weeding; and distribution of quality certified seeds at 50% subsidy.

ICAR-Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibers (ICAR-CRIJAF) was established in Dhaka in 1938. After partition it shifted to Bengal in 1953 as Jute Agricultural Research Institute (JARI), is only research institute on jute & allied fibers crops in India and is a constituent unit of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) an Autonomous Body under Department of Agricultural Research & Education (DARE) under Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Government of India. This institute is located in Barrackpore, Kolkata.

• In Lata Singh v. State of Uttar Pradesh 2006, the Supreme Court viewed the right to marry as a component of the right to life under Article 21 of Indian Constitution. Therefore, option (b) is the correct answer.

• Stand Up India Scheme was launched on 5th April, 2016. It seeks to promote entrepreneurship among Scheduled Caste/Schedule Tribe and Women. Hence, statement 1 is correct.

• The SDGs were born at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro in 2012. The Club of Rome advocated resource conservation for the first time in a more systematic way in 1968. Hence, statement 1 is not correct. Therefore, option (b) is the correct answer.
